Steps in creating the network diagrams

  • Microsoft Visio is a powerful diagramming tool that allows users to create a wide range of diagrams, including network diagrams, flowcharts, organizational charts, and more. IT specialists that need to see system designs and network layouts will find it extremely helpful.  

     

    Microsoft Visio also has templates for some categories, users can choose a template that fits their need, such as "Basic Network Diagram" or "Detailed Network Diagram". 

     

    Microsoft Visio has a shape pane with various stencils which contain network related shapes such as computers, servers, routers and more. Users can also add their own shape in the drawing. Customizing the diagram by formatting shapes, layering and editing the background. 

     

    Lastly, the most crucial aspects are that users can examine and edit their diagram to finalize it, save and export their work, and so on.

  1. 1. Open Visio, Click New Blank Drawing. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. 2. Name your drawing. Then go to the ‘Shapes’ on the left side. 

 

 

  1. 3. Search for the shape that you want for your diagram. For example, server. 

 

 

  1. 4. Drag the shape(devices) to the page.  

 

 

  

  1. 5. Place the devices in positions that resemble their physical layout. 

 

 

 

  1. 6. Select the "Connector" tool from the Home tab. Then, label the connections and save your diagram.
